Only minutes from the north end of Pellissippi Parkway, the center offers outdoor challenges in a wilderness setting you would expect to find only after hours of travel. Instead, you'll travel deep within yourself to discover inner strengths you didn't even know you had.

 

The Life Development Center, operated by the non-profit Anderson County Health Council, can provide your company or oganization with a custom-designed day or days of safe yet challenging team-building experiences. A day at the Life Development Center increases your group's respect and trust for each other, as well as their flexibility and communication. You'll see improved cooperation, teamwork and productivity that all help you to meet your goals. And you never have so much fun.

The Life Development Center ropes course is the centerpeice of the team-building experience. We utilize a multitude of games and activities, that combine high (treetop) and low (groundbound) elements to enhance problem-solving skills, eliminate sterotypes and build trust among group members. The Life Development Center offers additional programs that combine all the elements of the adveture challenge model.

  • Who can benefit? Everyone: You are never too old or too out-of-shape for an outdoor challenge. The Life Development Center accomodates all types of physical handicaps in its programs.

    What does it cost? Cost is determined by the length of the program, the activities you request and the size of the group.

    How much time does it take? We can design a program just for your group that makes the best use of your available time, from half-day to several days. We will meet with you before your scheduled visit to determine your individual needs, and we'll meet with your group again after your outdoor experience to follow up with your progress.

    Who are we? Our staff is made up of experienced well-trained facilitators with backgrounds in human services, administration, education and counseling. The Life Development Center's ropes course is the only facility in East Tennessee that is accredited by Project Adventure, a pioneer in the outdoor learning experience movement.

    Where are we? Located at Haw Ridge Park in Anderson County, we're directly across Edgemoor Road from Centennial Golf Course on the shores of Melton Hill Lake.
